William Lummus, President of Lummus Supply Company, is proud of the family traditions behind his business, which has grown from a small sand and coal supplier to become one of the largest full-service building suppliers, to meet the needs of Atlanta's building professionals.

Robert H. Lummus, Sr., formed our company in 1925. He pumped sand from Proctor Creek at Bolton Road and sold it throughout Atlanta, adding coal in 1938.

In 1945, R.H. Lummus, Jr., went into partnership with his father, forming Lummus Sand and Coal. In 1961, the company was incorporated, changing its name to Lummus Supply Company. That year, they built a new store on Bolton Road, dropped coal, and added a full line of hardware and building materials.

Since then, the company has grown to include 7 locations:

Bolton Road in Atlanta, Alpharetta Highway in Roswell, Atlanta Road in Cumming, Highway 92 in Acworth including our Engineered Products Division, the Murrayville location and our Oakwood distribution center.  There is also a specialty Millwork Division, which opened in March 1995, and an Installed Sales Division, which opened in 2001.

Four generations of the Lummus family have been in touch with the evolving needs of Metro Atlanta's builders. Robert H. Lummus, Jr. is the company's Chairman Emeritus. Son, Robert H. Lummus, III. is Chairman of the Board and son, William Lummus is President.  Daughter Jackie Barber is Secretary and Treasurer and daughter, Dianne Underwood, is Assistant Secretary. A fourth Lummus generation is continuing the business, and taking their place in the company. Heidi Williams is in charge of buying lumber, William Lummus Jr. manages the Installed Sales Division, Brandon Underwood is the Director of Information Technology/Human Resources, and Reid Lummus is a Millwork Specialist at our Millwork Division.
