Pressure Treated Lumber,
A Wood Preservation

Lumber's greatest enemy is biological attack- destruction by termites, fungi, marine borers and bacteria. After more than a half century of scientific tests and practical experience with CCA, this preservative has been found to be the safest, most effective weapon yet formulated to protect wood against insects, rot and decay. Despite its record however, some still have concerns about pressure treated lumber. These are the most frequently asked questions, along with answers gained from over a lifetime of treated wood usage...

1. WHAT IS CCA PRESSURE TREATMENT
AND HOW LONG IS IT EFFECTIVE?

The same untreated softwood species commonly used in construction have an average life of less then five years in contact with the ground.
